The Computation-based Science and Technology Research Center (CaSToRC) of The Cyprus Institute (CyI) acts as the Nation HPC Competence Center for Cyprus.

It pionners in the introduction, development and employment of intense computational methods and data to advance scientific and technological disciplines. Backed by CyI's Tier-1 supercomputing facility, CaSToRC aspires to cultivate the use of High Performance Computing (HPC), Simulation and Data Science in Cyprus and the Eastern Mediterranean and to serve the needs for computational and data intensive applications for academia, government and industry.

In addition to offering computational resources, training and user support, it pursues its own research areas, which currently focus on scientific computing and novel computer architectures, Chemical Dynamics and Kinetic Modelling, Climate Modelling, Computational Biology, Computational Engineering, Quantum Computing and Nuclear and Particle Physics.
