Founded in 2009, CaSToRC’s research team comprises of more than 25 researchers and since its creation has secured in excess of €10 million in external funding, mostly from the European Commission. The primary goals of CaSToRC are four-fold:
- To create a research program of international caliber in computational and data science, engineering and underlying areas of scientific computing.
- To build and provide supercomputing capability in Cyprus enabling the understanding via simulation of a broad range of complex processes many of which have economic and societal impact.
- To be a catalyst for the development of and education in computation-based science and technology in Cyprus and the Eastern Mediterranean region.
- To emerge as a regional hub for computational science and scientific computing.
