CaSToRC Summer Internship Program
The Computation-based Science and Technology Research Center (CaSToRC) is pleased to announce that it will be continuing its Summer Internship Program in 2010. The program will extend for a 6-8 week period during June-July 2010 (exact dates to be confirmed).
The program will be mainly project focused, supplemented with some lecture material from CaSToRC staff on aspects of High Performance Computing (HPC). These will include topics on:
• Construction of Linux Clusters
• Parallel Programming and Introduction to MPI
• Programming with GPUs and GPU architectures
• Benchmarking, Profiling and Debugging Application Codes
Candidates during their projects, will be assigned a supervisor who they will work under in an aspect of the operations of an HPC center. Projects will vary in scope with some being highly technical from a hardware perspective, some being more concerned with application programming and tuning and others dealing with some web programming and user assistance. Candidates will be free to choose from the available projects.
At the end of the program, each candidate will be required to give a short presentation (10-15 minutes) and produce a report about the project they worked on.
The program is generally available for final year undergraduates but others are encouraged to apply. It is assumed that candidates are familiar with either C or Fortran. Some experience with a scripting language is preferred but it is not a prerequisite.
Applications should be submitted electronically to castorc [dot] info [at] cyi [dot] ac [dot] cy, and should include a covering letter with contact details, details of study and an academic referee, by the end of April 2010.
